This document contains frequently asked questions and answers about using the digital room key in Apple Wallet at Hotel alter Kranen.
With your digital room key in Apple Wallet, you can open doors at Hotel alter Kranen with your iPhone or Apple Watch - quickly, conveniently and securely.
After booking and successful online check-in, you can add your room key to Apple Wallet using the Wallet icon. Once your room has been assigned, the key will be activated automatically. Then simply hold your iPhone or Apple Watch up to the door lock.
Yes, your digital room key is automatically activated for all the rooms you have booked.
In addition to your hotel room, you can also use the digital key for other approved areas of the hotel, such as the hotel entrance or other accessible areas. The available access areas may vary depending on the location.
Your room key is stored directly on your device. Apple does not receive any information about which doors you open or when you use them. Your data remains private and protected.
- An iPhone or an Apple Watch with the latest version of iOS or watchOS
- An Apple ID that is registered with iCloud
No. Express mode allows you to open doors without unlocking or activating your iPhone or Apple Watch. Express mode is switched on by default.

Yes, with the "Power Reserve" function, the room key can be used on supported iPhones for up to five hours after the battery is empty.

When you add the room key on your iPhone to Apple Wallet, it is automatically saved on your paired Apple Watch.
You can use your room key on an iPhone and an Apple Watch at the same time, as long as both devices are logged into iCloud with the same Apple ID.
Use the "Where is?" app or iCloud.com to lock, deactivate or reactivate your device.

Please check the following points first:
- Update your device to the latest version of iOS or watchOS.
- Make sure that Face ID, Touch ID or a code is set up.
- Check whether your Apple ID is logged in to iCloud with two-factor authentication enabled.
- Check whether the Apple terms of use have been accepted.
You can remove Wallet cards directly on the old device or online.
On the iPhone:
Open the Wallet app, select the desired card and tap on "Remove card".
Online:
Sign in with your Apple ID and remove the Wallet content from the old device.
You can then add your room key again on a new device.

The function is currently only supported by selected hotels. Other hotels will add this function in the future.
